Apologies Mr O - By population advantage, I mean that the large population skews the per capita emission figure. If you compare the per capita GDP of the US to the per capita GDP in China it is far greater. So yes the per capita CO2 of the US is higher but the US is also producing goods at a much higher per capita level.
